LMPD: Man dead after crash in Louisville's California neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is dead after a car crash in Louisville's California neighborhood on Thursday afternoon. 

Shortly before 1 p.m., Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) responded to a call for service on a report of a vehicle collision on Dr. W. J. Hodge Street near Howard Street. 

Upon arrival, officers said they found a single car crash. LMPD said their preliminary investigation reveals that a passenger vehicle driven a man was headed northbound on Dr. W. J. Hodge Street when, for some unknown reason, he lost control and hit a tree near the intersection of Howard Street. Police said he was the only person in the vehicle. 

EMS transported the victim to UofL Hospital where he died from his injuries shortly after arrival. 

No other vehicles were involved in this collision. 

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation which is still ongoing.
