Man accused of harassing women in downtown Louisville faces new accusations

A woman came forward about a December sexual harassment incident after she saw Antonio Coleman's mugshot on the news.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Although Antonio Coleman has never been declared guilty, several people have accused him of sexual harassment and stalking.

The accusations are so pervasive, LOUMED sent a warning to workers in the downtown medical district last week. He's been arrested for those accusations, but he's avoided jail time for more serious crimes in the past.

After being charged with rape in August, 2022, Coleman was released from jail and the case was dismissed from court.

Coleman has been declared incompetent to stand trial over five times in the last year-and-a-half.

The latest case was in December after being arrested for trespassing. The same month, a woman claims he exposed himself to her at the intersection of Broadway and Brook Streets by Norton Hospital.

That charge wasn't brought forward until Jan. 29, three days after the initial arrest.

In the police report, the woman said she recognized Coleman's mugshot after seeing him on the news. It brought the total number of cases against Coleman to five.

"I always like to say, 'If you smell a wet dog, there's usually one around,'" former Louisville judge David Holton said.

"If he's not gonna be competent to stand trial," Holton said reviewing copies of Coleman's charges, "then it's incumbent on the County Attorney to seek a mental inquest warrant."

A spokesperson for County Attorney Mike O'Connell said the office sought the warrant "at every opportunity." Holton ran against O'Connell for the seat in 2022.

That warrant would have allowed Coleman to be held in a behavioral health institution.
