LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man appeared in court Monday after being arrested for allegedly speeding through the scene of a deadly car crash over the weekend.

Logan Fentress, 28, was arrested Saturday night and is facing several criminal charges including seven counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

According to an arrest citation, Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) had closed a portion of New Cut Road and Brown Austin Road due to a deadly car crash.

There were eight police vehicles at the scene with their emergency lights on, police said.

LMPD said Fentress made his passenger give him their gun and get out of the car. He then did a burnout on the roadway, speeding around a parked police cruiser, and sped toward officers before driving through the scene of the accident and fleeing, the citation said.

Fentress was arrested shortly after the incident.

As he was being arrested, officers noticed Fentress smelled of alcohol and had glassy eyes and slurred speech. He allegedly told officers he had been drinking earlier but due to his "aggressive and combative behavior," the citation said police weren't able to conduct a field sobriety test.

Authorities said Fentress continued to be aggressive while being booked at Metro Corrections, saying he refused a breathalyzer test and attempted to damage equipment.

Police said he also tried "multiple times" to remove his handcuffs while waiting on paperwork.

The citation said Fentress' blood alcohol content was .08.

On Monday, he appeared before a judge for arraignment where he pleaded not guilty. A judge set his bond at $25,000 cash.

If posted, Fentress will be placed on home incarceration. He will be back in court on March 5 for a preliminary hearing.
