LMPD: Traffic accident causes truck to catch on fire

While a truck was turning, an SUV going northbound collided with the truck making it catch on fire.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police officers and the Traffic Unit were dispatched to a traffic accident around 8:15 p.m.

An LMPD spokesperson said the initial findings are a pickup truck pulling a trailer heading southbound on Preston Highway tried to make a left hand turn onto Cooper Chapel.

While they were turning, an SUV going northbound collided with the truck making it catch on fire.

A woman in the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver escaped with minor injuries the spokesperson says.

The two people in the SUV received non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic has been diverted. The Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
