LMPD officer injured in crash

The collision happened at the intersection of 30th and Market Street in downtown Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tuesday afternoon, a Louisville Metro police officer was injured after colliding with another driver at the intersection of 30th and Market.

A preliminary police report says the officer was driving south on 30th St and stopped at a stop sign. He was unable to see around a truck sitting near the intersection and was hit when he pulled forward by an oncoming driver, LMPD says in a news release.

The impact of the collision was on the driver's side of the patrol car. First responders had to extricate the officer because the collision jammed his door, police say.

The officer and the other driver were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A witness tells WHAS11, the collisio spun the officer's car around and it was facing the opposite direction when it came to rest.
