KSP identifies remains from 1990 cold case as Louisville man

Authorities found the man in a wooded area in Daviess County, Kentucky in 1990.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police were able to identify a victim from a 1990 cold case.

Authorities said they had found a man in a wooded area in Daviess County, Kentucky on Jan. 7, 1990.

He had been shot, beaten and was missing his hands and feet police said. They had been unable to identify him up until this point.

Using genealogy testing and with the help of the Trans Doe Task Force, they were able to identify his as 71-year-old William Dennis Mathews of Louisville.
