Southern Indiana man arrested for murder, child molestation

MILLTOWN, Ind. — A southern Indiana man was arrested on preliminary charges of murder and child molestation.

According to a release from the Indiana State Police, in the afternoon hours of Saturday, March 30, officers with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office responded to the town of Milltown after a report of a possible murder. 

Officers arrived and found an adult woman dead at the scene. The Crawford County Sheriff's Office called ISP to help assist with the investigation. 

According to ISP, investigators were led to a 44-year-old Milltown man as the prime suspect in the murder. A probable cause affidavit was completed and a warrant was issued for the man's arrest.

The man was found in a Harrison County residence after police spent "several hours" searching for him. He was taken into custody without incident and preliminarily charged with murder and child molesting.

Indiana State Police did not say what led to the child molestation charges. An autopsy is scheduled for the deceased victim. The case remains under investigation according to police.

Milltown is roughly 120 miles south of Indianapolis and 35 miles east of Louisville.
