LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new playground that is ADA accessible is headed to southern Indiana this summer.

According to Clarksville Communications Director Ken Conklin, the playground will be installed in Ashland Park starting in later this month, and is expected to take anywhere between 4-6 weeks.

A grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund helped pay for the nearly $950,000 project, and nearly $300,000 will be spent on installing the playground and replacing existing mulch with turf surfacing.

“With the installation of a new accessible playground in Ashland Park, inclusivity becomes the cornerstone of play as we continuously work to improve life along the beautiful Ohio River," BJ Nelson-Lynton, the superintendent of Clarksville Parks, said.

The playground comes months after Clarksville began a revitalization project alongside Riverside Drive Conklin said.

There is supposed to be a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the playground.
