Indiana's newest COVID-19 case report dropped from previous days, but still marked the third-highest daily total of the pandemic.

INDIANAPOLIS — This is a liveblog with real-time updates on COVID-19 in Indiana. The Indiana State Department of Health gives daily updates at noon, while Gov. Eric Holcomb and other state officials provide more context every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Sunday, October 11

Indiana's newest COVID-19 case report dropped from previous days, but still marked the third-highest daily total of the pandemic at 1,579 new cases.

Indiana now has 134,981 total Hoosiers who have contracted the virus, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

The 7 additional deaths reported Sunday occurred Friday and Saturday, and bring the state's mortality total to 3,562. 

Saturday, October 10

The Indiana State Department of Health reported its third record-breaking day in new COVID cases across the state Saturday.

Saturday, the daily number climbed to 1,945. The state has not seen more than 5,000 cases over a three-day span since the pandemic began.

The number of Hoosiers who have died from the virus now stands at 3,555.

More than 1,47 million Hoosiers have been tested for the virus. Nine percent of those tests have come back positive, according to ISDH records.

The higher infection numbers follow Gov. Holcomb's decision last month to lift most statewide precaution rules while keeping a face mask mandate in place through Oct. 17.

Friday, October 9

The Indiana State Department of Health reported more than 1,800 new cases of coronavirus in the state and 19 more deaths.

The state's total number of cases has surpassed 131,000 and more than 3,500 deaths. 

More than 2.2 million Hoosiers have been tested for the virus.  

Thursday, October 8

The Indiana State Department of Health reports 1,488 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 129,677 cases since the pandemic began.

The state also reported 16 more deaths for a total of 3,515 deaths.

Wednesday, October 7

The Indiana State Department of Health reports 1,302 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 128,227.

The state also reported 17 more deaths, which brings the total for Indiana to 3,500 since the pandemic began. 

The state said 52 percent of ICU beds are in use in the state, but only 15 percent is from COVID-19 cases. 

Despite being in Stage 5 - ISDH emphasized social distancing and wearing masks are still required.

Looking at Indiana schools, there are 811 reporting no cases, 944 with one or more cases, and 1,067 that have not reported. The state reports 303 new student cases of COVID, 59 cases among teachers, and 79 staff members.

Tuesday, October 6

The Indiana State Department of Health announces 990 more positive cases of COVID-19 and 30 more deaths today. That brings totals to 126,946 cases and 3,484 deaths.

The newly reported cases were from Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, while the deaths date back to Sept. 25.

More than 1.4 million Hoosiers have been tested for the virus.

Monday, October 5

The Indiana State Department of Health reported 835 new confirmed cases and seven more deaths.

The state's total number of cases is more than 125,000 while the total number of deaths is nearing 3,500. 

More than 2 million Hoosiers have been tested for the virus.
