Floyd County authorities warn about scam calls targeting residents

According to the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, a person has been pretending to be with their office, contacting residents to gain personal information.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Residents in Floyd County are being asked to be aware of a possible scam.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said some residents have reported receiving calls from someone pretending to be with their office, particularly the civil division.

Officials said the individual who has been identifying themselves as “Seargent Jacobs” is telling them they have missed court dates of failed to appear as a witness.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that they do not have a “civil division”, nor a Sgt. Jacobs and they don’t call residents with that type of information.

The office urges residents to be cautious in giving information over the phone or online.
