Former corrections officer, 3 inmates face charges in July 2019 battery

According to investigators, the former corrections officer escorted the accused inmates to the victim's location and allowed the battery to take place.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind. — Three inmates and a former corrections officer are facing charges after another inmate at the Jefferson County Jail in Indiana was battered in July 2019.

Indiana State Police said inmates Tyler Dukes, Jason Spicer and Steven Oneal were involved in the battery. Captain Chyenne Jarrett, who is no longer an employee of the jail, allegedly escorted the accused inmates to the victim’s location and allowed the battery to happen.

Investigators also said Jarrett improperly stored confiscated drugs and drug paraphernalia in her desk.

Jarrett faces charges of official misconduct and aiding/causing battery. Dukes and Spicer both face charges of battery, and Oneal faces a charge of aiding/causing battery.

All four will face initial court appearances soon.
