Chemical spills into Yellow Fork Creek in Floyd Co., Ind.

The chemical did cause the death of fish in the Southern Indiana creek.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- If you live in Floyd County, Ind., near Yellow Fork Creek, listen up--a chemical has spilled into the water.

The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency said the chemical is normally used to deodorize portable toilet and holding tanks.

The chemical was discharged into a storm drain. The creek is off limits Tuesday morning, May 22, following the spill.

Because of the spill, fish did die. Several trucks were called in to pull out the contaminated water.
