2 injured after train collides with car in Henryville

That incident happened in the 21000 block of North US Route 31 just after 6 p.m. Monday.

HENRYVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – Two people were transported to University Hospital in Louisville after a train collided with a vehicle.

That incident happened in the 21000 block of North US Route 31 just after 6 p.m. Monday.

According to a preliminary investigation, local residents were returning to their home across the tracks when their vehicle was struck by the train on their driveway.

Emergency crews say the vehicle flipped over, trapping both inside.

Both were extricated from the vehicle by firefighters.

The Clark County sheriff's office says one person is in serious condition, the other has non-life threatening injuries.

Highway 31 in the area was closed for a short while but later reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
