LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Indiana State Police are investigating after a woman was found dead Sunday at her residence in Washington County.
Shortly before 9 a.m., a 911 caller reported a woman had been shot at her residence on Mt. Carmel Road in Fredericksburg. Officers from the Washington County Sheriff's Department and ISP arrived at the scene and located 32-year-old Heather Lawson dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
A medical examiner listed the cause of death as a gunshot. A preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was an accidental discharge, according to an ISP news release. However authorities are still investigating and the case remains open.
