LOUISVILLE, Ky (WHAS11) - Cuddle Clones LLC is returning to the Bluegrass with new jobs for Louisville.

The startup known for producing one-of-a-kind replicas of people’s pets announced Thursday that it is moving its headquarters to Louisville thanks to a $1.3 million investment.

Cuddle Clones was established in 2010 by CEO Jennifer Williams. A few years prior, Williams had toyed with the idea of creating a plush copy of her beloved Great Dane, Rufus. When Rufus passed in 2009, she decided to put that plan into action.

Eight years later, Cuddle Clones is still creating these customized stuffed animals and has expanded into making ornaments, memorials, and more. Cuddle Clones also donates proceeds to animal charities and pet-related causes.

The move to Louisville will allow Cuddle Clones to expand operations and produce new product lines. It will also create 50 new jobs in Louisville.

“We love the entrepreneurial community in Louisville and the infrastructure and support that the state has provided to help our homegrown company succeed,” Williams said.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer is also pleased with the move. “Cuddle Clones’ expansion is a testament to Louisville’s strong startup culture and availability of business mentors.”
