Father, son accused of murder will be tried together

A father and son charged with committing murder together will be tried together. His stepfather Josh Gouker and stepson Josh Young have been pointing the finger at each other over who really killed Trey Zwicker.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A father and son charged with committing murder together will be tried together. His stepfather Josh Gouker and stepson Josh Young have been pointing the finger at each other over who really killed Trey Zwicker.

Now the truth will finally come out as both will face a jury and their attorney's plead their cases

Father and son will sit next to each other in court when they go on trial in April

'The court has decided that Mr. Gouker actually it's Mr. Young's request for a separate trial will be denied,' Barry Willett, division one judge, said.

Gouker and his son Josh Young are accused of killing 14-year-old Trey Zwicker; Young's stepbrother and Gouker's stepson. His body found behind Liberty High School in May 2011

For months the attorneys have argued that the two needed separate trials.

'If we are separate for trial, we don't want any statements by Mr. Gouker brought in. In fact we'd be happy if we didn't hear his name at all,' Leslie Smith, Young's Attorney, said.

Transcripts of their interviews with police over the past year show just how often they changed their stories. Their interviews played in court reveal a tangled web of mismatched accounts and deception.

Trey's dad Terry Zwicker spoke to me on the phone Friday, March 22, and says he supports a joint trial.

'They were there together. They were at the crime together. They should be tried together,' Terry Zwicker said.

Trial for both Young and Gouker is set for April 15.
