Emergency calls for service at GE Appliance Park were false, LMPD says

"The 911 call that was made was not a malicious call, but a misunderstanding of what was happening."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville police have given the all clear after false reports of an emergency at GE Appliance Park Thursday afternoon.

Louisville Metro Police Department's (LMPD) Sixth Division was dispatched on a report of an "active aggressor" at GE Appliance Park on Buechel Bank Road around 11:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, LMPD Spokesman Aaron Ellis said they went inside the building and started checking it and securing the perimeter. Shortly after, an all clear was given.

After speaking to representatives from inside of GE Appliance Park, Ellis said police discovered an alarm had sounded that was associated with operations inside a building on campus. A misinterpretation of that alarm caused a person inside to think it was an “active aggressor alarm." Therefore, that person left and contacted a family member, who then contacted dispatch to make the report.

"The 911 call that was made was not a malicious call, but a misunderstanding of what was happening," Ellis said.

After the all clean was given, authorities said workers were allowed to go back inside.

This is a developing story. We will update this with more information as we receive it.
