LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Dr. Joseph Kutz, one of Louisville’s renowned hand surgeons is headed for retirement.
Dr. Joseph Kutz is the co-founded the Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center with Dr. Harold Kleinert.
He helped performed the world’s first successful hand transplant in 1999.
More than 1,400 physicians from nearly 60 countries have trained under him.
Mayor Greg Fischer thanked the 87-year-old for helping put Louisville on the map in the medical field for hand surgeries.
