City, community remember LMPD Ofc. Nick Rodman a year after his death

"We are working each day to remember Nick and remember his sacrifices and we are doing what we can to remember that sacrifice," said LMPD Chief Steve Conrad.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It was a band of blue and a show of brotherhood as members of LMPD's 1st Division, along with city leaders, took a moment to remember fallen Officer Nick Rodman.

"Even though a year has passed, there are still feelings of anger and sadness that still linger," said LMPD Major. Eric Johnson.

The 30-year-old and father of two young children was killed when he was hit in his patrol car during a pursuit a year ago.

"We are working each day to remember Nick and remember his sacrifices and we are doing what we can to remember that sacrifice," said LMPD Chief Steve Conrad.

Officer Rodman's name now hangs on a street sign outside the 1st Division on North 29th Street, in the Portland neighborhood where Rodman patrolled. It was a dedication to his love of work and his work family.

"It was probably one of the most difficult years of my life. It was difficult coming back to work after we had lost him. Riding the same areas. Riding the same streets. Driving past the same intersections where it happened," LMPD Det. Nicholas Dewees told WHAS11.

There was another dedication inside. A hand-painted mural of Officer Rodman brought his father to tears.
