LMPD: Body found in Ohio River just southwest of downtown Louisville

The body was spotted in the river around by a tugboat operator around 3:40 p.m. Monday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Police are investigating after a body was found in the Ohio River.

Authorities said they were notified by the Coast Guard after a tugboat operator told them they believed they had spotted a body floating in the river southwest of downtown around 3:40 p.m. Monday.

LMPD’s River Unit responded to the location near Rubbertown where they did locate and recovered the body.

Investigators are awaiting for the results of an autopsy to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.
