MT WASHINGTON, Ky. — Two elementary school teachers in Mt. Washington have been pulled from the classroom pending investigations.

In a letter sent to parents, a Crossroads Elementary School teacher was reassigned to administrative, non-teaching duties on March 11. Another letter sent on April 11 informed another set of parents their child's teacher was also being reassigned.

Bullitt County Public Schools (BCPS) Superintendent Jesse Bacon said the allegations against each teacher are separate and unrelated. The school district did not share any information regarding the incidents.

"While we cannot provide specific details regarding personnel matters, please be assured that this decision has been made in the best interest of your child, the students in this classroom, and any involved personnel," BCPS told parents.

In a statement on Friday, April 12, Bacon said reassignment is a "precautionary measure routinely utilized until investigations conclude for both the welfare of our students and any staff involved."

"It would be inappropriate to draw any conclusions from the reassignment of staff as certainly none will be made by the undersigned until all the facts are in," Bacon wrote. "With any school matter such as this, there are frequent inaccuracies and unjustified conclusions found in uninformed social media posts. We will make all appropriate, non-confidential information available as soon as possible."

The school district said substitute teachers have been assigned to the affected classrooms to continue teaching students.
