Sen. Rand Paul’s Ky. neighbor pleads guilty to November attack

Rene Boucher maintained the attack had nothing to do with politics.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WHAS11) – The man charged with a misdemeanor fourth-degree assault for allegedly assaulting his next-door neighbor, Republican Sen. Rand Paul, pleaded guilty in federal court, according to ABC affiliate WBKO.

Rene Boucher, 59, pleaded guilty to assaulting a member of Congress resulting in personal injury.

The attack happened outside Paul’s Kentucky home in November 2017.

Boucher maintained the attack had nothing to do with politics and told police he assaulted the senator because he had ‘had enough’ after he saw Paul stack a pile of brush near his yard.

Sen. Paul sustained five broken ribs, including three displaced fractures from the assault.

Boucher’s final sentence is expected to happen in June, WBKO reports.
