S. Indiana teen charged with molesting 19 girls

Michael Begin is facing new charges in the Southern Indiana sex abuse case.

CLARK CO., Ind. (WHAS11) -- - Disturbing new details have been released in a Southern Indiana child molestation case, where the number of victims continues to grow.

According to police, Michael Begin was a Jeffersonville High School student when he molested 19 girls between 2016 and 2017.

Begin is now facing 26 counts of child molestation after two new victims came forward in the Southern Indiana sex abuse case involving pre-school age girls.

"It seems like every time there is a development, in this case, more people see that, talk with their children, and we discover additional multiple victims of mister Begin," Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said.

Begin is accused of molesting 19 girls as young as three and as old as eight.

Most of the alleged abuse happened at the Jeffersonville YMCA, where Begin was an employee, working primarily in the after-school child care program.

It also happened at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, where Begin was part of an assistant teaching program.

But new this week, the police say they received a report of abuse inside a family friend's home.

"The charges allege that in one instance Mister Begin was visiting the home of a family friend where there were minor children present and that at that time he did molest one of those children with fondling activity," Mull said.

According to court records, the girl told her mom it happened while they were watching a movie.

A second girl told her parents Begin "rubbed her private parts" while she colored and did crafts at the YMCA.

Mull said, "These are victims that were discovered when their parents starting discussing the matter with them after the initial charges."

Mull is urging parents with children at the Jeffersonville YMCA or Thomas Jefferson Elementary to talk to their children about Begin and report any suspicious information to Jeffersonville Police.

Begin is being held in the Clark County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond. His trial is scheduled for August 2018.
