Southern Indiana man arrested, accused of leading state troopers on chase in Washington County

Police said 41-year-old Anthony Arnold of was also wanted in Clark County on several charges.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Clarksville, Indiana man has been arrested after police said he led them on a chase in Washington County.

Anthony Arnold, 41, has been charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and resisting law enforcement.

Indiana State Police said a trooper was trying to stop a Ford Fusion driven by Arnold for speeding as he was traveling south on State Road 135 near Dutch Creek Road around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Police had turned on their lights as Arnold pulled into a driveway of a home and started to stop. That’s when they said he sped off through the yard and back onto the highway.

The original trooper, followed by others, began pursuing Arnold around State Road 135 before turning onto Liberty Church Road and later South Palmyra Road.

Eventually the pursuit would stop around West Strickland Road, but police said Arnold jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot towards Blue River.

Arnold crossed the river and was caught by police in an open field.

Indiana State Police revealed Arnold was wanted in Clark County on multiple charges – possession of a gun by a serious violent felon, burglary, and possession of meth.

He was taken to an area hospital to be checked out but later transferred to the Washington County Jail after medical clearance.
