Kroger parking lot shooting suspect arrested, charged with murder and wanton endangerment

Police said Carl B. Hardin III and Dayshawn Tolbert got into a verbal altercation at the gas pumps of the Kroger store on W. Broadway.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police arrested a man accused of shooting 37-year-old Dayshawn Tolbert in a Kroger parking lot on May 24.

Police said Carl B. Hardin III and Tolbert got into a verbal altercation at the gas pumps of the Kroger store on W. Broadway. That's when Hardin allegedly produced a handgun and fired at Tolbert, who died from his injuries.

According to police, multiple people were standing behind Tolbert at the time of the shooting and were in danger of injury or death.

Hardin is charged with murder and wanton endangerment. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 27.
