JACKSON COUNTY, Ind — Indiana State Police arrested a former Jackson County auditor Friday on multiple felony charges of misconduct which occurred while she was the auditor.

Staci Eglen, 44, of Seymour, Indiana, was charged with four counts of official misconduct (level six felony), four counts of theft (level 6 felony), and two counts of fraud (level 6 felony).

ISP detectives began their investigation into Eglen in April 2024, when investigators with the Indiana State Board of Accounts discovered possible misconduct.

Detectives determined Eglen altered two invoices and submitted these altered invoices to the Jackson County Treasurer's Office. She allegedly deposited the checks into her person bank account and received cash that was used for personal purchases.

In total, ISP officials say Eglen obtained about $18,000 illegally from the county through fraud and theft.

Eglen was arrested Friday afternoon without incident. She is currently in the Jackson County Jail, pending an initial appearance in the Jackson County Circuit Court.

ISP officials say Eglen resigned her position as auditor soon after the investigation began.
