INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman was sentenced more than five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to bank robbery.

That sentence was handed down roughly six months after the woman's daughter was sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to bank robbery and attempted bank robbery while on supervised release for a previous heroin trafficking conviction.

According to court documents, Sierra Hunt, 56, robbed four Chase banks in the Indianapolis area from April 9 and 15, 2022. Each time, Hunt gave the teller a note demanding they put money in a bag, before leaving with cash.

The four banks lost more than $26,000 combined in the robberies.

One of the notes was written on the back of a Family Dollar receipt, which detectives used to locate and arrest Hunt.

Hunt was released on bond in April, and while out on bond, she assisted her daughter, Shamiya Hunt, as a getaway driver in two more bank robberies, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

Sierra Hunt had been previously convicted of multiple felonies including theft, conversion and child selling.
