Fmr. Larue Co. principal facing more than 60 child porn charges faces judge

He's facing dozens of charges of possessing and sharing child pornography.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) – A former principal at LaRue County High school in court today, facing serious charges of child pornography.

Stephen Goodlett was recently fired from that job on the heels of those charges and now Kentucky State Police asking students at two schools to contact them, if their cell phones had been confiscated.

Despite facing more than 60 felony charges for possession of child pornography former LaRue County principal Stephen Goodlett is a free man as his case heads to a grand jury, and that doesn't sit well with some of the parents.

"How are you going to have that many counts of something that dire consequences and get to walk freely,” Stephen Renfrow said.

He may be out on bond, but daily life will be far from easy for the former high school administrator.

"Mr. Goodlett just to make certain that there are no further allegations as well as no fury misconduct we're going to include a provision that you have no contact with any child under the age of 18 unless it's under CPS direction which means the children that may be your own,” a judge told Goodlett. “Remember that no internet use is a requirement of your bond. To the best of my knowledge you have not violated any of your bond conditions so you may remain in the community on your bond."

"There's kids everywhere,” Renfrow said. “How are you going to walk freely around that? How could anybody that possibly has kids allow that? I just can't believe something like that could happen."

KSP could not comment on this story since it is an ongoing investigation but they say they believe there could be more victims out there, and possibly more charges coming.

"I'm thinking you've been a principal that long there's a lot of phones that get confiscated in schools,” Renfrow said. “You're not supposed to have them out and they take them away. What are they doing with them? I kind of bothers me.”

If your child was a student at Elizabethtown High from 2010-2012 or LaRue County High School between 2012 and 2016 and had their phone confiscated you are being asked to contact your local authorities.
