Louisville Ballet's new performance to feature music from Jack Harlow

The Louisville Ballet will feature music from Jack Harlow in a new hip-hop inspired performance.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Ballet announced Tuesday its new performance will feature music from one of Louisville's most famous local rappers.

The performance titled "502" will use the work of Jack Harlow. Legendary choreographer Ching Ching Wong is set to choreograph the production.

Wong, born in the Philippines and raised in Los Angeles, is known for her unique and innovative approach to dance.

“502 is a celebration of voices and communities coming together in a way that is singular to Louisville," Wong said. "With the artists of Louisville Ballet and the hip-hop music of Jack Harlow, we challenge what is and what can be. I’m thrilled to return to Louisville Ballet and looking forward to sharing work made in and for the 502 community."

Louisville Ballet called the production a "one-of-a-kind integration of the ballet and contemporary music" and said the performance will be an "exhilarating experience for all."

The debut of "502" is expected to happen during the Louisville Ballet's 2024-2025 season, likely sometime this fall.

"We are excited to bring this unique collaboration to our audience," Louisville Ballet Artistic Director Harald Uwe Kern, said. "By partnering with Jack Harlow and Ching Ching Wong, we are able to bring a fusion of innovative forces together.”

The Jack Harlow Foundation is a known supporter of Louisville Ballet. The foundation donated $50,000 to the ballet last year.
