Governor reveals how much money Kentuckians have wagered on sports so far

The governor said he's happy to see this money finally staying in the commonwealth to help fund key programs.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Editor's note: The above video is when online sports betting officially went live in Kentucky.

The numbers are in following the first weekend of mobile sports betting.

According to a social media post from Gov. Andy Beshear, $68 million has been wagered in Kentucky from Thursday to Sunday. That is including both in-person and mobile sports betting.

To put that in perspective, only $10 million was wagered in the first two weeks of retail betting in the state.

The governor said he's happy to see this money finally staying in the commonwealth to help fund key programs.

Over 2% of the revenue earned from sports betting will go towards gambling addiction, and the rest will go toward the state's pension fund.
