Beloved bowling alley closing Fairgrounds location, plans to relocate near Jeffersontown

"We have been informed that it is not in the future interest of the Fair Board to have a bowling center located at 911 Philips Ln."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A beloved bowling alley in Louisville will soon be closing the doors of its current location, while planning to open up a new location in a different part of town.

Executive Strike & Spare bowling alley announced on Facebook that it will be closing its location on Philips Lane near the Kentucky Exposition Center. The post said the Kentucky Fair Board is ultimately making the decision.

"After extensive talks with the Kentucky Fair Board, we have been informed that it is not in the future interest of the Fair Board to have a bowling center located at 911 Philips Ln," Strike & Spare said.

Fortunately, this closure is not immediate. The bowling alley's Facebook post said its been granted a 6-month extension by the Fair Board to stay until January 2025 with an option to stay up to another two years.

Strike & Spare expressed their gratitude for the Kentucky Fair Board in the social media post.

"We would like to thank the Fair Board for their willingness to work with us throughout the conversations and we hope to remain here as long as possible," Strike & Spare said.

After making the big announcement about the closure, the owners of the Strike & Spare announced plans to open a new bowling center, this time in the Jeffersontown area.

The 45,000 square-foot will have 34 lanes, including an 8 lanes VIP suite, a full bar and restaurant, party areas, and an arcade with more than 60 games.

The Strike & Spare Jeffersontown location is expected to open around Thanksgiving.
