LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — Every rescue dog has a story. Some just happen to be more interesting than others.

Meet Jake.

The 2-year-old beagle mix came to the Kentucky Humane Society just like hundreds of other dogs, but his name happened to remind PR coordinator Megan Decker of a certain insurance ad campaign.

One that involves khakis.

“All he needed was a little extra attention to be noticed. I immediately thought of Jake at State Farm,” she said in an interview with State Farm. “So I posted his photo on Twitter and tagged State Farm.”

Decker's creativity paid off. The day after the tweet was sent, Jake got a response from - who else - "Jake from State Farm".

Jordan Knoup, a State Farm Public Affairs specialist, came upon the post when checking mentions. Her heart went out to Jake and she knew she had to help in whatever way she could.

Through the efforts of the Public Affairs team, State Farm sponsored Jake's adoption as a "goodwill gesture", hoping to help him find is "forever home.

He found that home with Morgan Rhule. After a dog she had her eye on was adopted, she discovered Jake at a Fern Creek Feeders Supply and the pair had an instant connection.

"We just clicked," she said. "It was like he'd always been my dog."

Two months later, Jake is blissfully happy in his new home. If you don't believe us, you can check out his very own Facebook page, "Jake from Statefarm the pup".

"I can't help with insurance but I bet I can make you smile!" "Jake" says in a post.

State Farm hasn't forgotten about Jake either - in July the company sent him some exclusive State Farm doggie swag including a leash, t-shirt, and more.

As for Morgan, she is thankful for the creativity and perseverance of the Kentucky Humane Society and State Farm employees who helped her find Jake.

"He is honestly the best thing to happen in my life."

There are still plenty of dogs just like Jake hoping to find their forever homes. Visit kyhumane.org to learn more.
