Church honors architect who broke down racial barriers

More than 100 years ago, Samuel Plato graduated from what is now Simmons College and went on to become an architect.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — More than 100 years ago, Samuel Plato graduated from what is now Simmons College and went on to become an architect. He designed the Broadway AME Zion Church in Louisville, helped break down racial barriers and now he is being honored. The event is Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2 PM at the Broadway Temple at AME Zion Church, which is located at 1301 West Broadway in Louisville, KY.
