Raising money for Crusade on the golf course

Twenty-four teams hit the links at Jeffersonville's Elk Run Golf Club for the 5th Annual Ted Throckmorton Crusade Golf Tournament.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS1) -- Mother nature teed up the perfect day for golfers to raise money for the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Twenty-four teams hit the links at Jeffersonville's Elk Run Golf Club for the 5th Annual Ted Throckmorton Crusade Golf Tournament. The event is played each year to honor the memory of the longtime Crusade volunteer and to benefit the children served by the Crusade.

"Five years ago, I ask him if there was something I could do to honor his service and he said why don't we put together a golf scramble," Davy Throckmorton, event organizer, said.

After five years, the scramble has raised $90,000 for the Crusade.

This year organizers expect to raise a whopping $19,000 with this one-day event. The 65th Annual WHAS Crusade for Children is coming up June 2 and 3.
