Interview: Remembering WHAS11’s Chuck Olmstead with free screenings

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)- Chuck Olmstead was a beloved member of the WHAS11 family. He died of a brain aneurysm in March of 2009 after 30 years as a journalist with WHAS11. He covered every big story and was one of the few reporters anywhere to be allowed inside the Fort Knox gold vault. He was also the first inductee to the Louisville Association of Black Journalists.

Chuck did not know he had an aneurysm, and did not see a doctor.

If caught early, aneurysms can be treated.

Since his death, Chuck's widow and 2 sons have created the Chuck Olmstead Memorial Fund to raise awareness of this disease and help people get the screenings and treatment they need.

Candy Olmstead joins WHAS11's Brooke Katz in the studio.

Sunday's screening begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. at the Kentucky International Convention Center exhibit hall 1A. You can register at the event between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
