Louisville bar hangs replica 2013 championship banner

The owners of Taj in Nulu ordered a replica of the championship banner in 2013, but they were never able to use it until now.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The NCAA may have made UofL remove the 2013 championship banner from the KFC Yum! Center, but a new banner has gone up in Louisville that has the city talking.

The owners of Taj in Nulu ordered a replica of the championship banner in 2013, but they were never able to use it. Ken Blackthorn said once the NCAA decision came down, they remembered they still had the replica banner and decided to put it up in support of the team.

“I was there. You can’t take away the feelings. I mean, yeah, you can take the banner down, but you can’t take away their rings, you can’t take away the laughs and times that we had at that game. It was awesome,” Blackthorn said.

He said putting up the replica banner is not a sign of resistance against the NCAA but a show of support for a team of which he has always been a fan.
