LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Becoming a holiday hero is as simple as rolling up your sleeve.
The Kentucky Blood Center is looking for holiday blood donors at its Middletown Donor Center on Shelbyville Road.
Blood donations tend to slow down during the holiday season, so as an added incentive if you stop by through this Saturday, you'll get two free movie tickets as a special thank you.
“We always have to have enough blood on the shelves at any given time for any emergency. And the need for blood doesn't take a holiday, so there will be a need for blood transfusions throughout the next two holiday weekends. There always is, so it's important to have blood on the shelves and the only way we can do that is if good-hearted volunteers come in and donate blood this week and next week,” Martha Osbourne with the KY Blood Center said.
You can donate today until 7 p.m. or if you can't make it, the Middletown Donor Center will also be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Dec. 21, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Dec. 22 and 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Dec. 23. No appointments are necessary.
