18-year-old shot in New Albany on Woodland Avenue

The 18-year-old's condition is not known, according to police in New Albany.

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) – An 18-year-old was shot early in the morning of Aug. 14 in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue, according to the New Albany Police Department.

The police said they were dispatched to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue to investigate a shooting at 1:44 a.m., but it was at that time Baptist Health Floyd called to report an individual had driven himself to the Emergency Entrance suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers determined through their investigation the incidents were likely connected.

The 18-year-old’s condition is not known, according to police. His name has not been released.

NAPD said all the parties involved are accounted for and no public safety risks are outstanding. The individual who shot the 18-year-old is cooperating and the NAPD and Indiana State Police are investigating.
