WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. — Two people are dead following a home explosion in Wolfe County.

This latest blast happened nearly four months after a deadly explosion in Lincoln County, about an hour west of the area. That explosion left one woman dead.

Police say Saturday's incident also injured four people and created dangerous working conditions for investigators. The scene was described as something seen out of a movie.

According to ABC affiliate WTVQ, investigators located the bodies of two people in the basement area of the home Sunday morning.

“We hate the situation and we feel for the family members,” Sgt. Bret Kirkland, Kentucky State Police said. “We’re just happy that with all the debris, all the water, all the damage to the house that we could find bodies in the house.”

Kirkland says this is the first time he’s ever seen something like this in the area.

He stresses to homeowners that if you smell gas inside, report it and leave immediately.

Kirkland said investigators believe the cause is gas-related and they are looking at nearby gas lines.

The four injured were taken to area hospitals.

The victims have not yet been identified.
