LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Starting today the state's largest school district will begin taking applications for schools looking to open as charter schools.
Jefferson County Public Schools released its Request for Charter School Applications Monday morning, April 16.
The 60-day application period is for schools looking to open in the 2019-2020 school year. Lawmakers approved charter schools during the 2017 legislative session.
The director of school choice for JCPS says the district must move forward with the process even though state funding has not yet been determined.
