Seymour man killed in Jackson County shooting

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department said Tobias Au was arrested after a shooting early Wednesday morning.

BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — One man has been arrested for murder after a shooting in Jackson County early Wednesday morning, the sheriff's department said.

Deputies originally responded to a call of a shooting at 2710 Brent Tree Lane at around 5:30 a.m. May 6. When they arrived, deputies found 28-year-old Ryan Joseph Ross of Seymour dead inside an apartment.

The sheriff's department said 30-year-old Tobias Au shot Ross several times soon after he arrived at the apartment. Ross has a child with the woman living at the residence, and Au is currently in a relationship with her.

Both Au and the woman, Dakota Anderson, were interviewed about the shooting. The reason for the shooting is still being investigated, but Au has been arrested.

Sheriff Rick Meyer said a protective order was in place for Ross to stay away from Anderson, but said Anderson had been allowing Ross to come over and exchange their change from the residence.
