Police say Brian Allen, 25, attacked two EMT's attempting to revive him from an apparent overdose.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police say a man is in custody after he attacked two EMT’s as they were attempting to revive him from an apparent overdose.

According to an arrest report, EMT’s responded to the 2800 block of South 4th Street around 4:30 a.m. Sunday after reports of a person being down.

When the EMT’s made contact with 25-year-old Brian Allen, they attempted to administer Narcan in the rear of the ambulance. That’s when police say Allen awakened and became “extremely combative”.

Officers say Allen struck an EMT with a closed fist and then grabbed the wrist of the second worker, biting down hard, breaking through the skin drawing blood.

Allen continued assaulting both EMT until he was restrained by police.

He’s facing two counts of third-degree assault.

Allen is currently booked at Metro Corrections and is expected to be arraigned Mar. 26.
