Polar blast and snow chances this week!

So, we're trying to give you snow lovers some good news! First a cold blast, then snow chances late in our next workweek. Check out the details!

If you're anything like our WHAS11's Doug Proffitt, you're just craving some winter weather! Well, it looks like #BOTS (Bring On The Snow) late next week!

Let's have a look at the cold maps!

A strong cold front will move through on Tuesday, December 5th. This front will first bring wet weather, then the cold air will quickly arrive next!

Notice the jet stream dives way to the south, this opens the door to Canada's polar air!

Temperatures on Wednesday will fall to the 40s, then highs in the lower 30s likely by Thursday and Friday. Now, it looks like it could also be breezy with the cold air in place for Friday and next Saturday - this could push wind chills down to the single digits and teens! Brrr...!!!

Now, what about snow!? With all the cold air locked in place, the EURO and GFS weather models are calling for little disturbances flowing down the cold northwest flow, producing light snow off and on for Thursday into Friday.

The GFS is calling for a clipper system around this time, which could produce some light snowfall accumulations. It's way early too talk accumulations amounts, but overall snow chances are looking more and more likely by Thursday, December 7th and Friday, December 8th!

Here's a look at all of the changes on the way over the next week. Enjoy the sunshine and mild weather through Monday, before Old Man Winter arrives!
