Lingering clouds and dry today; Fall weather arrives next week

Fall weather returns next week as a few cold fronts moves through New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS — Clouds from Beta will stick around for at least the first part of today. Expect some peaks of sunshine this afternoon and evening. It will be warm and less humid with highs in the lower 80s.

Weekend Outlook: A weak trough of low pressure and an upper-level low will move across Louisiana this weekend. There will be a lot of dry air over us, so I'm only expecting a few showers and storms Saturday and Sunday. It will be partly cloudy and more humid each day with high temperatures in the mid 80s.

Football Forecast: The weather will be warm and humid for the LSU game in Baton Rouge vs. Mississippi State at 2:30 PM, Saturday. More good weather is expected in Hattiesburg, MS for the Tulane game at Southern Mississippi at 1:30 PM. Lastly, the weather will be good for the Saints game Sunday night at 7:20 PM vs. the Packers.

Next Week Outlook: We will have a warm and humid day Monday as a cold front moves through with scattered showers and storms. A few could become strong along the front. The humidity will drop quickly once the front moves through. Highs will be in the mid 80s. A reinforcing second cold front will move through on Tuesday with a few showers. It will turn much cooler with high temperatures in the mid 70s. We will stay cool on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 70s. Lows north will be in the 50s and south in the 60s. FINALLY a taste of fall!

Eye on the Tropics:

The remnants of Beta will move northeast across Alabama and into Tennessee. Otherwise, the rest of the tropics are FINALLY quiet. Do not expect any development during the next 5 days.

We are not done with the season yet as October can see development in the Caribbean and Gulf. Nothing to watch right now, but stay tuned.
