LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Warmer temperatures will return for the first few days of February, but weather models are showing a cold spell by the first weekend of the month. So, snow lovers still have plenty of time for big snow.
While there was no snowfall in December, there have been a couple of rounds of snow during January. So far, the snowfall total for Louisville is more than three inches, which is below average for the winter season. On average, the snowfall total for the entire season by the start of February is around 6.7 inches.
February has the potential of bringing Louisville big snow, being one of the snowiest months, with an average of 4.1 inches of snow. Last February, snow accumulations in Louisville added to 11.3, making it the 10th snowiest of the month on record. To put it into perspective, the average amount of snowfall for December, January, and February combined is 10.8 inches.
