No patient onboard in deadly Louisville ambulance crash

Police say an SUV was traveling south on Taylor Blvd. when it crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a Louisville Metro EMS vehicle.

EMS involved in fatal accident at Taylor Blvd. and Bicknell Ave.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three people have been transported to the hospital and one person has died after a crash involving an emergency vehicle on Taylor Blvd. and Bicknell Ave. It happened around 6:30 p.m.

Police say an SUV was traveling south on Taylor Blvd. when it crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a Louisville Metro EMS vehicle.

A passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to the UofL Hospital in critical condition.

The driver and passenger of the ambulance were also transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The ambulance was not carrying a patient at the time of the crash.
