LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentuckiana drivers, if you plan on traveling across the Ohio River next week, expect some delays in your commute.
One of Louisville's iconic bridges will be partially closed June 20-24.
The Clark Memorial Bridge, also known as the Second Street Bridge, will be partially closed for an inspection of the bridge, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Federal regulators require this inspection every two years.
Some northbound lanes will be closed for the first half of the week, followed by some southbound lanes closing for the second half of the week.
The cabinet advises motorists to use caution and heed signage while traveling through the work zone.
Drivers should also expect up to two nights of possible double-lane closures on Interstate 64 as well next week. Those closures would take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. where I-65 crosses beneath the bridge.
According to a cabinet spokesperson, firefighters will be taking advantage of the lane closures for training, while bridge inspection crews will work to replace sections of the pedestrian railing.
The cantilevered truss bridge was built in 1929 and connects Louisville, Ky. to Jeffersonville, Ind.
