HARDIN CO., Ky. (WHAS11) – A utility company will be installing a new power transmission line across I-65 at Exit 91 in Hardin County, Ky., on Nov. 16 starting at 9 a.m.

The installation of the line will require both directions of I-65 and the south side ramps to be blocked. The work is set to begin at 9 a.m. and is expected to last one to two hours.

Northbound motorists will be diverted off the interstate at Exit 83 (Glendale) and over to the US 31W to rejoin I-65 in Elizabethtown.

Southbound motorists will be diverted off at Exit 91 (toward Hodgenville) and over to US 31W to rejoin I-65 in Glendale.

This an emergency repair, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Signage about the work will be posted, but KYTC is urging motorists to plan ahead and choose alternate routes. Delays are expected and KYTC motorist should be alert for slow/stopped traffic in this area.

Icing from earlier on Thursday caused the major transmission line to fall across the interstate, on the south side of the interchange.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Originally KYTC said the emergency repairs would be made on Thursday at 4 p.m.. But KYTC sent WHAS11 an update and they said the repair would now happen on Friday, Nov. 16.
