2 dead, 1 seriously injured in wrong-way crash on I-264E at Bells Lane

Louisville Metro Police said a vehicle was driving west in the eastbound lanes when it hit another vehicle around 3:40 a.m. Friday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All lanes of I-264E at Bells Lane were shut down for several hours Friday morning following a deadly crash, according to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD).

LMPD spokesperson Beth Ruoff said the crash was reported around 3:40 a.m. Police believe a vehicle was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes when it hit another vehicle.

Ruoff said two men have died and a woman was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Police believe the men were the drivers of the two vehicles and the woman was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit. Their identities have not been released.

Around 5 a.m., TRIMARC estimated that the interstate would be shut down for four to five hours. The interstate reopened just before 8:30 a.m.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
