LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Editor's note: The above video is when the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the 48-day closure of part of I-65.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is closing part of a road starting Aug. 15.
According to a press release, KYTC will close KY 1703, otherwise known as Baxter Avenue, at the Tyler Park overpass from 7 a.m. Aug 15 to 7 p.m. Aug. 20.
Electronic message boards were installed to warn drivers of the scheduled closure for the rehabilitation project that will help the bridge's existing drainage and asphalt.
The expected detour will be from Eastern Parkway to Bardstown Road to Grinstead Drive, and vice versa.
KYTC warned drivers and motorcyclists should expect delays in the work zone, and that inclement weather may effect how long the construction lasts according to the release.
